My Obsession with John Robshaw Textiles

One of my favorite sources for bed linens and pillows is John Robshaw Textiles. His hand-dyed and stitched textiles are made in India using traditional methods to create extra soft linens with a chic, ethnic feel. He travels all over Asia and the Middle East to find artisans that utilize unique printing techniques and patterns to bring that eclectic, worldly vibe to his pieces. I've had the opportunity to do some work in the Middle East so I felt a natural affinity to his aesthetic. Yet as we all know, when it comes to fabric the feel is just as important and once I got my hands on the super luxurious hand distressed cotton, I was hooked.

These are some images from a recent beach house remodel project that show how his fabrics can be used to create distinct looks. In the master bedroom, I used a more subdued palette in order to impart that “luxurious yet laid-back beachy” feel I was going for.

John Robshaw Textiles are great to use as a whole look but they also mix and match well. For the guest bedroom I combined matelasse euro-square pillows with a Dan Marty vintage tie-dyed throw pillow with John Robshaw bed linens. I love the effect of a unified mix of textiles.

I am always happy to share my favorite sources and current obsessions with my readers. Finding unique and fabulous pieces is a wonderful perk inherent to interior design, and is one of my specialties.

The hand-dying and printing technique creates slightly imperfect patterns giving the sheets a human touch, and the details are just exquisite.

John Robshaw’s decorative throw pillows lend personality to any room and can be integrated easily into many interiors. I enjoy using them because the bright colors and interesting textures give my designs a rich layered look and also that finishing touch.
