My Guilty Pleasures in Paris!

As promised here are some more pictures from my trip to Paris this summer.  There are so many reasons to visit Paris, I think that one of the main reasons is the food!!!  I love to eat as well as cook so I was in heaven…..

The first day I went to The Bon Marche La Grande Epicerie, American’s call it a “food hall” which was absolutely amazing.  This is not your ordinary market.  The choices are endless in every food category and the way they display the produce, cheese, fish, bread, pasta, etc. makes you want to buy everything and run home and have a dinner party.  I would move to Paris just to be able to shop at The Bon Marche for my groceries.

Look at the produce makes you want to become a vegetarian!

Have you ever seen multi color pasta?

I love bread especially french bread. How do you decide which one to choose?

I would take all of them!

When in  Paris you must stop and get a macaroon from Laduree’.   I think they have about five locations around Paris and they are too die for!  I stopped by the one near my hotel and had one (or two) everyday.  They offer about ten or so different flavors and my favorite is the caramel with salted butter.  Yum Yum.

As you can tell I love to eat!!!  But my passion is interior design and I am currently photographing one of my projects so look for  so of my new work in my next blog… Xoxo Janette

Majolica Madness!

I am a complete nut over Majolica, you either love it or hate it.  I happen to love it and have been collecting it for many years.  My favorites are Griffen, Smith & Hill, but believe me when I out antiquing if I find a piece in nearly perfect condition at a reasonable price I grab it!!!  I am drawn to the  pinks, greens,  yellows mixed with browns.  I’ve collected so many pieces over the years that I had to finally rent a case at The Summerland Antique Collective in Montecito, California.  So if you are ever in the area check it out.

I was in Majolica heaven in Paris and I just came back from an antique show in Atlanta and they also had a ton.  Majolica is big in the South.

Check out these pieces I found in Paris…

The large plate with the crabs is a collectors piece and they were asking 6,000 Euros for it.  Way out of my price range!

I want to share with you my recent trip to Paris!!!! As you can imagine I took a zillion pictures ranging from my trips to the flea markets, personal shopping excursions, and The Louvre. I was particularly fascinated by the architectural details, all the ornate colorful doors, and of course all the food at the Le Bon Marche. Which believe it or not, was one of my favorite spots in Paris! Besides spending time with my amazing 15yr old son, flea market shopping and decorating, eating is one of my favorites past times.

For my blog today I have decided to share with you my experience at “Les Puces” The St-Ouen Flea Market which is the largest antique market in the world. I have been to a lot of flea markets and furniture shows around the country but nothing compares to Les Puces!!!!  I remember the first time I went to the High Point furniture show I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I have to say the Les Puces is the ultimate in flea market shopping. I spent two full days there and was not able to see all the vendors.

Here a glimpse of my experience…

Check out this amazing wood carving…probably an original architectural detail from a French chateau…

I am obsessed with these oval mirrors! I also love the idea of clustering them together to create the look of one large piece…

I found this incredible Napoleon chaise, such amazing lines…

I have been collecting vintage apothecary bottles, and of course I had to add some of these to the collection!

I die over La Cornue ranges, check this one out…

Les Puces was truly the experience of a lifetime for a designer! I will be sharing the rest of my Paris favorites…to be continued!
